How do you care for and clean a fresh tongue piercing? How long does it take to fully heal up?
It should take 10-14 days for the swelling to go down. Once that’s happened get the long bar changed to a shorter one. I think they told me to rinse it with alcohol free mouth wash after every time you eat something during that initial period. Also during that period be prepared to eat more soft and liquid food. And try not to fiddle with it too much. It takes about 4-6 weeks to fully heal. During that period no beer, limit dairy, no oral and no smoking.
Oral hygiene is important, make sure to rinse your mouth after eating with non iodised sea salt solution, or any other alternative. Swelling will happen but how much is different for everyone. Lisps usually disappear will you downsize, the jewlery. The initial jewlery will be longer to accomodate for swelling, so don’t play with it and try to eat carefully to avoid biting it.
