With surge and increase in house rent, is it advisable to keep paying the higher rent or move to a cheaper place but face longer commutes?

There are other factors to consider. How much is your time worth? Will a longer commute affect other aspects of your life? You should also keep in mind how paying more or less in rent will affect other areas of your budget. My advice is, move closer to the office. As the cost of commuting is often much higher than you anticipate.
Assuming it doesn’t stretch my budget to the point of not being able to make other payments, I would certainly take the closer apartment. Reducing commute time is very high on my list of acceptable things to spend extra money on. You will also reduce transportation costs. Another way to cut cost on house bills is to consider get a roommate or flatmate.
