Many times, we can get insensitive conscious or unconsciously, but most unconsciously when dealing with depressed people, this hurting them the more. What are kind of things you should refrain from saying to a depressed person?

Something I always refrain myself from saying whenever I’m around someone that seems depressed is to try to compare depression or start talking about what I’m going through also with the hope of making them see that theirs is even less. Saying something like “at least you don’t have to deal with so and so” isn’t a way to communicate with someone depressed. Depression is not situationally based, and being reminded that others are worse off is only going to make the person hate themself the more.
