Nigeria has experienced large internal and external migration flows in the last decades.. However,the number of Nigerians leaving the country increased as a consequence of the economic downturn and political instability. Since then, the net migration rate stayed negative.

However, the Nigeria Immigration Service is a para military organization established to control the entry and exit of all persons in Nigeria and as such is meant to adequately monitor the country’s borders through its various officers posted at different locations. The  nature of Nigeria’s borders has permited and given access to  illegal routes to promote illicit activities including unlawful bringing in of arms and ammunition.

MAJOR IMMIGRATION ROUTES

Amongst several countries in which a Nigerian can migrate to Canada top the list because it offers high-quality education and high-quality living, It also provides its citizens with essential healthcare services.  Other top Immigration routes include: Immigration to Australia, Immigration to Germany, Immigration to Switzerland and Immigration to the United Kingdom.

 

IMMIGRATION TO CANADA

Nigeria is the highest leading country whose citizen has emerged as one of Canada’s most important sources of new immigrants, which simply means there are several ways on how to apply for Canadian permanent residence from Nigeria.

Althogh due to the outbreak of the Coronaviruss, immigration rate slightly dropped snd  there will clearly remain many opportunities to immigrate to Canada in the near future.

OPTIONS FOR NIGERIA-CANADA IMMIGRATION

They include:

1) Federal Economic Class:Canada accepts the largest number of immigrants under the economic class,however the largest group within the economic class is the Federal High Skilled category.

However the Canda’s Federal Economic Class programs include:

  1. Federal Skilled Worker
  2. Federal Skilled Trades
  3. Canada Experience Class

Canada operates its federal economic class immigration system using Express Entry whereby the prospective immigrant submit a profile and enter express entry pool,get issued an invitation to apply as long as the minimum points requirements are met,then followed by submitting an application in 60days , before successfully moving to Canada.

 

  1. Provincial Economic Class:This class is achievable by having a specific skill,thereby targeting the specific demands of local labour markets.Once this is in place there could be an higher probability of being selected by a provincial stream.
  2. Quebec Immigration:On the Quebec,candidates are required to submit profiles to the Arrima system and are given periodic invitations to apply.

4.Business Immigration, including the Start-Up Visa Program: Eligibility requirements for the Start up Visa Program are as follows:

  1. Qualifying business.
  2. Commitment Certificate and Letter of Support from a designated entity.

iii. Sunencumbered, available and transferable settlement funds.

iv.Proficiency in English or French at minimum Canadian Language Benchmark level 5.

vi.Temporary Residence First, Then Transition To Permanent.

IMMIGRATION TO AUSTRALIA

There is an high Immigration to Australia from Nigeria and this makes it one of the biggest migration routes for skilled human capital in the world.

Currently,Australia is accepting Nigerians with permanent residency in more than 400 different occupations as well as for working holiday visas, student visas, working visas and some others.One different aspect  about Australian immigration is that Australia makes very little discrepancy between nationalities. The United Kingdom is another country Nigerians can migrate to as it gives international students the opportunities to work in the country after studying. The United Kingdom has an high personal security, Jobs and earning, and once you become a legal resident from investing in the country you can easily have an access to the national health service and free health care for you and your family.

IMMIGRATION TO GERMANY

Germany had ranked the best performing in entrepreneur program, and also has the largest economies in the world, a high level of spending for services which includes telecommunication, tourism, and agriculture which would thereby make living for immigrants very much more comfortable.
