Postpartum Anxiety does not necessarily start right after delivery. It can start before – during pregnancy or months later, as it does for some women. It can be serious if it is indeed clinical depression and goes untreated for a length of time. The consequences will vary from person to person, however none are positive and may affect the baby as well. So please don’t make yourself more stressed and worried by reading other people’s experiences and advice – whenever I’ve done that it’s only made me worry more. And that resulting worry turned out to be totally unnecessary and preventable from simply going to speak with a doctor instead of consulting the internet.
Postpartum depression can last for a few days, however, in extreme cases; it can last for weeks, months and even years. If the symptoms of postpartum depression linger on for a few weeks, than it is necessary for you to seek treatment. Postpartum Depression can be cured in a number of ways. For normal baby blues, it can be treated by bringing lifestyle changes and getting socially involved with other moms and family members. In severe cases, it would be better to seek a professional medical advice.
