Pininterest makes money through affiliate marketing. It is used as a social media tool to promote links from your website to a new audience. Pins are used to capture the attention of viewers who can follow the board or click through to read the article or website that the pin is linked to. The promoted pins, just like promoted content over other social media networks, are user targeted so as the user and the advertiser gets what they need.
Pinterest generates revenue by selling promoted pins. When someone clicks on a promoted pin, they’re taken to the company’s website. Pinterest also makes money from affiliate links. An affiliate link is a link that pays Pinterest a commission when someone clicks on it and buys something. For example, if you click on an Amazon affiliate link from Pinterest, Amazon will pay Pinterest a commission for sending you to their website.
