Women will on average always have a bond and love their children more than the father. Sorry that’s just natural. But, raising a child is a different thing entirely. A half asses decent father is probably a better parent than most loving mothers. Being a good parent cuts beyond just having a bond with your child, are you there for them when you should? Provision? The list goes on and on.
The answer to this question is both. You can’t have one without having the other and expect to be fully functioning human beings. A child need the nurturing of the mother, but the discipline of the father in order to be able to function properly in the world when they become adults. The mother becomes the primary parent from birth up until the age of five, then the father becomes the primary parent up until the child becomes independent. Children that come from single parent households will be missing key components, such as empathy from the mother and strength from the father. For example, a child growing up without a father will act out, become rebellious and turn to a life of crime due to the lack of a firm authority figure and positive role model.
