One of the most common causes for a misbehaving Start menu is corrupted or damaged system files. You can do your Windows 10 system a lot of good by running a system file scan and repairing all of those system files. To do this, press Windows Key + R, type “cmd” and press Ctrl + Shift + Enter to open the command prompt as administrator. There are two commands you should use in sequence to fully scan and repair your system: DISM and SFC. In the command prompt window,
type the command and press Enter.
This is quite a common issue, something I’ve had to encounter myself couple of times. While using my laptop, I can suddenly just notice my my start button isn’t working, and the search is freezing too. How I’ve resolved it each time it happened is to restart my laptop and sign right back in. The issue tends to resolve itself once I restart my device.
