It’s all discipline, come up with a routine. Have a separate space for working, especially useful if it has a door away from main living areas. Know how you work best, I do my best analytical work in the morning and schedule meetings in the afternoons. Buy a good chair- do not go through 40+ hours sitting on a terrible chair, your back will hurt so badly by the end. Lastly, take coffee or water cooler breaks: Stretch, get a drink, or go outside! Breaks are normal in an office and should happen when you’re remote too.
Productivity is all about routine and rhythm. You can’t expect to put out your best work when you don’t have the right work environment in place. At home, you have anchors geared towards leisure and relaxation instead. The sound of the kettle brewing, the cat or dog pining for attention, and the partner asking if you want a cup of tea. As such, working from home isn’t conducive to optimal productivity. To get to a better place with your output, you need to minimize distractions.
