Korea still hasn’t overcome its race problem. I highly doubt if there are korean actors that are black. K-Drama as we all know is for mainly Asians only. Becoming a black K-drama actor who was not born in Korea is almost impossible. However, if you were born in Korea or have some Asian ties you possibly could. There is a black model in Korea due to the fact he was raised there. The chances for blacks are very low. The entertainment industry wants you to be at least half Asian, and have the Korean beauty standards.
Korea is a homogenous country and there aren’t many black actors who speak the local language fluently. But there are few examples Black actors who have starred in some K-Dramas. For example; Chris Lyon acted in a famous 2020 Korean drama called Itaewon class, or Han Hyun-min he’s Korean and black he also starred in the new k-drama called “so not worth it” (2021). Although, very few blacks are starred but they’re still gonna be viewed stereotypically by the media itself, it just depends on what they are casting them for.
