Any proof anyone may have of the existence of an afterlife is based on their on personal revelations. As there is no generally-known proof of the existence of an afterlife. It is not totally out of place to think there is an afterlife that exists somewhere. Dead people don’t just turn into thin air, do they? Well, maybe they do. Even as there is no solid proof of an afterlife, a lot of people believe there is an afterlife and they believe only good deeds can take them there, hence, why a lot of people struggle to live a virtuous life before they die. Another set of people that can likely tell us about the existence of an afterlife are the people who have had near death experiences. What they say about that moment is “their consciousness leaving their body to a certain place”, where is that “certain place”? We don’t know, probably won’t know until we die-before we can a full grasp of the full knowledge of afterlife.
PS: This is not my first hand experience.
During my second year in the university, I was having this type of discussion with my roommate-about afterlife and what happens when we die. She made what would be the most shocking revelation of my life to me that day. She totally convinced me there is indeed an afterlife, there is a place the dead go to, where they start a whole new life. She said “when my little brother was very sick, we knew he really might not make it out of that sickness, however we kept on hoping and praying he gets better. Two days to when he died, I was by his bed side, reading him one of his favorite novels. I couldn’t help but cry with the way he just laid on the bed looking at me like he was lifeless. At that moment, I spoke into his ears. I told him if he should die, he should come and give me a sign that he is doing fine wherever he finds himself. Two days later he died, and that was when I cried out all the tears I had. Few weeks after his death, I was clearing his room when I suddenly noticed the lamp by his bedside flickering. The lamp wasn’t connected to any source of light whatsoever, it was just there flickering on it’s own for close to 3 minutes. Then, it stopped. That night, I saw my brother in my dream and he smiled at me. I believed it was him who did the lamp thing. It was him. My brother was at a good place and doing fine. Perfectly fine.” Hearing all that from her sent shivers to my soul. There are people who have had supernatural experiences that convinces them that there is an afterlife. However, those experiences remain personal.
