There are some people who are of the opinion that pedophilia is a form of sexual orientation. What’s your take on this?
I don’t care if it is a sexual orientation or not. It is a crime. It is a crime not because of your desire but because it involves a child. It is a crime because that child is another human being who doesn’t even have enough maturity to decide what his or her needs and wants are. It is a crime because it is downright exploitation of innocence and a blatant, unpardonable betrayal of trust. It is a crime because, for all of you that don’t understand the above paragraph, the law understands that and it is a felony that can lock you up for life.
It’s hard or impossible to control who you are attracted to. However you do control your actions. It is wrong to make advances on somebody not mature enough to deal with this. It is also illegal to express sexuality to anyone under the local age of consent. Don’t do either.
While acting on these desires is wrong, I don’t believe anybody chose to be wired this way. For much of history, society paired off right around puberty. But society was different then.
