Should I add baking soda to my pancake mix? I’m not sure if it’s important anyway.

I really didn’t even know that some people use baking powder for their pancakes until I saw this question. Wow. As far as I’m concerned, you only need eggs, milk and flour. I’m Brit and we even have a day called Pancake Day so I’ve had my fair share of delicious, baking powder-free pancakes.
I really don’t know why you want to avoid baking powder. Are you trying to avoid the aluminum that’s found in most baking powders? Well, eggs have mild leavening properties, so you could increase the number of eggs. Or you can separate the whites and yolks and beat the whites until they are stiff, then fold them into the batter. That’s another way to fluff up the pancakes in addition to the egg’s natural leavening powers.
