Is growth hacking better than digital marketing?

  • 7
  • 7

Growth Hacking involves experimenting lots of different marketing channels to try and find efficient ways to grow your business as cost-effectively as possible. Growth hacking is associated with startups that don’t have access to the same budgets, resources or marketing teams that a more established company has. Instead, they come up with more creative ideas that allow them to bypass costly growth strategies and expand enough to survive the early stages of their business.

Growth hacking is like the new kid in town, who is gaining a lot of popularity, and people are claiming to know him without really getting to know him. Whereas digital marketing is the kid who has been the popular kid around the block, people know him. They are confused if the new kid is going to replace him. No one is replacing the other one. Growth hacking and digital marketing are both important concepts in the field of the digital landscape. Both the concepts are very similar to each other, and they are linked in some of the different ways. They both have a shared process of using creativity, experimentation, and analytics to accomplish the goals. Where they differ is the methodology they use. I think both roles will continue to hold their importance for a business based on short term and long term goals they want to achieve.

When you think of digital marketing, you probably think of bigger strategies that encompass many smaller marketing tactics in order to strive towards a goal. Growth hacking, or growth hacks, are comparable to those marketing tactics mentioned. They’re typically small scale and don’t cost much to do, but they also aren’t likely to produce great results on their own. But when you combine many growth hacks, at a steady frequency, that’s when you can see great results with your overall marketing strategy. So to answer your question, the answer is definitely NO. They often crossover and support each other, and both growth hacking and digital marketing are hugely important in today’s online landscape.
