Asking for some private reasons— is it possible that a burner phone to be traced?

My understanding isn’t that it’s untraceable, it’s that you can easily trash it the second you think it’s compromised. A burner just refers to a phone that’s not connected to your identity. No association to you and because the idea is to constantly swap burners. If you had your phone with you while using the burner phone, that location data would be the same and eventually could be compared and linked.
It is possible to track or trace a burner phone but that would defeat the purpose. You can get burner phones with anonymous prepaid subscriptions or you can pay someone to buy you a phone in their name. And then you can burn or toss the phone when you think someone might trace it so that they can not trace it back to you any longer.
