Should illegal immigrants be jailed or simply deported back to their home countries?
The illegals should be deported. The illegal immigrants are not the only wrong doers. They have a partners in this crime who should also be punished. The businesses that hire them should be fined. If a business continues to employ illegals the employer should face additional fines and spend time in jail or prison.
Assuming that they are not criminals, if they are not lawfully staying in the country, they should voluntarily depart or otherwise be removed. I do not believe that criminally prosecuting them with an immigration offense serves much purpose unless they have repeatedly entered the such country without authorization or they are committing some other identity fraud. It’s not an effective use of resources when the goal is to repatriate them to their home country.
