Many animation softwares are similar. It’s remembering the functions and their icons that’s a big part of it. If you’ve put in effort to learning Maya 3D first, blender wouldn’t be much of a tedious work for you if you dedicate quality time and attention to it. If you can master both, you’ll have the best of the two softwares. The principles are the same, but the UI is different.
However, you will benefit more if you focus on learning the skill vs. focusing too much on the software. Meaning you should master how to model, texture, light, animate, render etc.
Now, given that if you’re using Maya to do these things, you’ll have to learn how to navigate through Maya, but if you get a strong hold of the fundamentals of 3D, you should be able to use any 3D package including Blender to do those things without much extra effort.

The principles and tools are almost the same, just the UI is very different. Blender lacks some tools Maya has and vice versa, but they are nearly identical. If you learn Maya first, you will definitely have an easier time learning something the Blender 3D afterwards than the other way around. That’s because Maya is complex and not as user friendly. What will be most useful for you is the basic animation tools which are very similar among most 3D applications. The modeling part, not so much. Different 3D software do it differently. However, Maya is an industry standard application so it is great that you got to learn it first.
