It’s not always easy for early teens to feel confident in themselves. You as their parents can only help them identify their values if they allow you. Part of the problem for many teens is not knowing where they stand on things. They want to fit in with their friends, but they also want to have their own opinions. A good start to feeling confident in their identity is knowing where they stand on important issues.
If that’s how your boy feels, not know if he’s white or black, then that’s how he feels. Maybe not entirely, but I can relate to a level. Going to see a therapist he can talk to and pour out his mind to will really help. Going to see a therapist doesn’t mean he’s sick or troubled, he really just need to know that he is SEEN as opposed to how he feels. Also, take good note of his school, are they instigating such emotions in him intentionally or unintentionally? If intentionally, then you already know you should change his school.
