If you ever find out your parents are into some illegal businesses, would you cover them? To what extent would you cover up for them even though you might not support their shady business.

I belong to a social circle where we protect each other. When people from my social circle get in any trouble, everyone rally round them and help them out if the situation, no matter how shitty. This is the mentality I’ve had since I was a child till now. I am a 25yr old born into an influential home. I’d be lying if I don’t sometimes think my parents must’ve gotten into some illegal acts before they got the money they have. However, it’s always been a speculation in my head, I’ve never had anything to confirm it. If by any chance my parents gets in trouble over being involved in illegal business, I will stay by them, if it is within my capacity to cover up their deeds, I will. I mean, these are people I’ve known all my life and I see how they’ve always come through for myself and my siblings even beyond our needs. I se how they support their friends too. If they ever get in trouble over shady business, I will stand by hem and get through it together.

It depends on the highest good. This is what I mean, if a lot of people are going to get liberated from the shackles of their illegal business, I will personally rat them out. They are my parents, I love them for who they are. Not supporting their illegal business does not mean I love them less, I only want them to be better people. However, if I know their illegal business poses no known danger to people in the immediate community, I could cover them up. This does not necessarily mean I am in support of their illegal activities. If I was in their position, I believe they would do what’s best for me.
