      You need to be honest with yourself and really think about what how you fucked up and why—and then it’s a concentrated effort to not retread those steps and do something equally stupid or hurtful. all this needs to be combined with patience, because you cant rush someone’s trust. If someone you thought you could trust hurt you deeply, how willing would you be to just jump back into their arms after a tiny period of time?

      In my experience it’s totally subjective to a person how much they trust who. Some people get over it quickly, some not at all. Depends on the level of betrayal of their trust and how open they are to trusting you again. But chances are you’ll never fully recover it. Be a good person. Stop the fuckery that lose you their respect in the first place. And even this may never work.
