To reduce a file size, only the following options are available:
— Implement a dictionary-based compression, like ZIP. However, the popular lossy algorithms like JPEG are already efficient at making the file size small, more so when compared to lossless algorithms.
—Reduce the image resolution, that is, make size of the picture smaller.
—Increase the compression ratio, i.e., reduce the quality of the image.
—-Convert to another format that is more efficient at minimizing memory space requirements.
If you go to the Apple store and type in file compressor, you will see a couple of applications pop up. You can download any of those apps and use it to compress your file. Also, have you noticed how most social media file sizes are smaller than typical files? When you upload a picture on social media and re-download it, the size reduces drastically. You can apply this method to both photos and videos to reduce their size on your iPhone.
