If there’s anything people are really good at, it’s the act of pretending. What’s the most effective way to know or see a person’s true personality?
Watch how they treat you when they think they cannot gain anything from you. If a person believes they cannot gain anything from you, they will have no reason to pretend around you and you’re more likely to see their true nature. You’d be surprised by how unkind most people are. If you are lucky enough to get a glimpse of a person’s real character, you need believe it and take action accordingly. The signs are always there, but all too often we give excuses for a person’s behaviour or we just ignore the signs until things get really bad.
Depends on the qualities that you want to test, honestly. If I simply wanted to get to know the person more so that the less-apparent traits would come up, my first idea would be to take them hiking or otherwise put them in a position of mild discomfort. It’s just worked for me a lot of times.
