It may feel awkward asking for a pay raise, it may even seem as though you’re greedy. While many may feel this way, they simply wait on their employer until they notice them and go through their salary scheme, then offer them a raise. Best believe, they won’t always do that. So, the only option you have is speaking up. Asking for a raise is normal and it doesn’t make you feel greedy, so far you’ve worked for it. First, be thoughtful about your timing and approach. Don’t approach when your employer is in a foul mood or having a terrible day, or when the company is in crisis.

In most cases, employment contract often state when an employee is liable to a salary increase. However, if yours doesn’t have that and it doesn’t look like your employer is willing to do that. You may be forced to speak up, while you may have to speak up, it is highly important to know how to present your case. Know that before you can demand a salary increase, you must’ve worked well for the company and you know within yourself that you truly deserve the raise. If you don’t deserve it, bringing it up with the employer will be almost a waste of time and effort. Set a meeting date with your employer, let him or her know why you truly deserve a raise. Subtly remind them and list your achievements in the company so far, how you present this will determine if they will listen to you or not.
