I almost downvoted this post because of its absurdity but for the small chance that you really may not know. Have you even been drunk before? You change when you are drunk. You really can’t think of the safety of your compatriots. You won’t be able to estimate distance nor do you remember all the experiences and lessons you learned while driving sober. You are more prone to make mistakes when driving drunk which could end up being fatal to you or someone else. Your world spins and you struggle to walk straight, yet alone drive straight. You might not even register your car going over the line or the distance between you and the car in front of you. You’re behind the wheel of a vehicle. Your life and the life of those around you litterally depends on your ability to drive, and being drunk diminishes that ability.
It is a crime. This is because drunk driving impairs your driving abilities. You will end up killing yourself or paralyzing yourself permanently. It goes without saying that you will end up killing someone else or seriously injure and destroy their lives as well. Then comes destruction of property that comes along with drunk driving.
Drunk driving is a crime because it destroys lives. If today in the age of uber and lyft people are still driving drunk, their punishment needs to be doubled. Texting is as bad! People need to realize that vehicles are a privilege, not a toy!. As much as smooth the ride appears when you drive , remember that is still thousand pounds of machine that can destroy you and others if not used with respect and responsibility. It is not your iphone or gadget, it is a freaking automobile!.
