Upwork may reject new profiles for one big reason: too many applicants. Recently, Upwork began to reject some new profiles. On the positive note, this means that Upwork is making sure that its freelancer pool stays varied, and does not have too many applicants on a single skill set. It is really tempting to simply enter other skill sets. However, note that new profiles are scanned by bots and by real people, so there is a chance of getting caught – it is like putting lies on your resume. Take time to improve or polish your profile. Improve your description, add more details to your work history and portfolio, or use keywords in your industry. Select your best, positive, and trustworthy picture as your profile image. Upwork also allows you to put in certifications, so make use of it. Take tests and pass them while you wait. The best thing I can say when Upwork rejects your profile is not to take it personally. I understand that rejection can be very disappointing. You got to have a thick face, pick yourself up, and try again. While waiting, craft a few proposal letters or check your resume again and again.
