These days that every jack is claiming to be a writer, how do you know a genuine writer from a non genuine one? What do you look out for in a piece of writing that tells you the writer is a good one?

Good writing should flow with a kind of beauty and intrigue that attracts. But what draws in one reader is often over the head of another.
For me there are four major aspects of good writing.
Original content- Does the writers have something to say that is not frequently heard, or is a common situation regarded from a different point of view?
Recognizable goal – Is the writer going somewhere with the story or essay? Can this path be followed through aside and detours? Is the goal given away at the beginning and the writer keepings looping around in repetition?
A touch of reality – No matter how much fantasy is involved settings and characters must possess a touch of reality. Can I understand the characters and their motives? Are their struggles real? Is their world depicted in a manner so I can envision it?
Poetic style – Even in prose I am attracted by the music of words, phrases that play with repetition and variation, and sentences that are not what I’ve heard frequently but are still comprehensible.
Good writers always have great taste for everything around them. It would be easier for them to start writing but much difficult to stop. At the same time they also excel in precis writing wherever needed. Excellent writers never write for others, rather they write for their own personal satisfaction. But since they are the personalities with good taste, it is quite difficult for them to satisfy themselves and so they always tend to produce high quality works that they like.
Also efficient writers like to read again and again what they have written. That means they are the first readers of their work. If they have produced some good works they are self-motivated and feel happy about that. Good writers always see positive aspect of life and that would be reflected in their works. They know how to start an article and end it in a such a way that will tempt the readers to read fully. They have good flow of imagination and they blend their imagination in their works to make it as interesting as possible.
Good writers practically do not write boring theories but make the practicals visible in your eyes through their interesting theoretical explanations. You not only read what they have written but also see, hear, smell and feel what they have sketched. When they describe a flower, you could be able to see the flower in your inward eyes while feeling the sweet fragrance entering the nostrils. Ex. The fresh smell of the bluish grey bell shaped flower with baby soft petals floats in the air and is as fresh as the smell of the rainy morning.
