My roommate has really bad body odor but she won’t take kindly to comments about it, she is always on the defensive, what can I do?

if i understand your question, it is that you have informed her of this issue and she waves it off? I would like to think that maybe she is quite embarrassed or just full of herself, but your manner of approach could mean a lot, maybe switch that up and come as a more friendly caring figure and she might just pay attention.
These kinds of situations are hard to approach, I once had a close friend with mouth odor and it was quite horrific because no one wanted to be the one to tell her, I remember always wondering if she could not smell it herself. I suggest you treat this with delicate hands because a lot of hurt feelings could emerge, but ultimately let your friend know you are only concerned about her wellbeing, buy her presents in form of deodorants and just be playful about the situation
