I can’t help but often wonder how soldiers are able to sustain themselves whenever they go to war?

If there is one thing the military is exceptional at it’s keeping the troops fed. It may be horrible looking and tasting but there’s always plenty. When you’re tired and hungry you just hurry up and eat what you got and try to get some sleep. You don’t care about fine dining.
Every country takes care of their soldiers in their own way. Some armies used cooks and field kitchens and set up when they could. Sometimes soldiers had to go a few days without food.
Almost all militaries provide their troops with some form of combat ration, like MREs. Depending on the logistical and combat situation, hot meals may be delivered. One exception is the North Korean military, where combat rations don’t exist and which often requires its troops to confiscate food from local civilians. Also, most soldiers often carry their own light meals with them, meals that can be easily arranged without much hassle.
