How do I tell my family I don’t want to get married?

I don’t know how to come up to my family and tell them I don’t want to ever get married. Marriage scares me a lot, I don’t ever want to be with someone for the rest of my life. I don’t know how my family is going to take this, I’m an only child.

I don’t live with my parents, so this method was quite easy to pull up on them. Lol. When I turned 27, my parents started disturbing about meeting my boyfriend and all do that bull about marriage. I never want to get married, it’s just not my thing. So, whenever my parent wanted to talk about relationship and marriage, I always come up with excuses. I created an imaginary boyfriend, told them about him and even sent them some pictures. It worked to a point until they started requesting to meet him. What! Then I told them the relationship didn’t work out, so we broke up. I was repeating this until they couldn’t have it anymore, especially my mom, she was so pissed. I thought to simply tell them I am not just ready for marriage at that particular time, as I had lots of thing I needed to handle first. I still couldn’t tell them straight that I just don’t want to ever get married. That might make them so sad, their happiness matter to me. That excuse has been working for now, they have simply stopped asking me about marriage. Even when they visited me in LA where I stay, they only joked about me want to to be independent. When they stop taking that excuse, I’ll definitely find another excuse. But till then, I’m still unmarried…okrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I do not promise this is going to be easy but you can simply walk up to your parents when they’re in good mood and tell them you do not want to get married. Simply tell them the truth, do not beat around the bush. Be serious so they could take you serious. You’re an only child, that means you’re simply their greatest priority. Your parents want you to be happy and if not getting married will make you happy, they will have no choice than to support you eventually.
