You can start by asking yourself, what brings me to feel these emotions? For example, if you feel angry quite often why is this? Is this because of your environment, what you are eating, who you speak with or a memory/experience? Could you even change your thoughts, mindset or take yourself away from the factor which causes you to feel. Maybe once you take an action on this you will feel less of a reoccurrence and help stop that loop!
Anytime those emotions bubble up, redirect yourself. Understandably, it isn’t easy, but if you are fighting against thinking about or feeling a certain thing, you will inevitably think and feel those things, because whatever you resist persists. You need to completely take your mind away from them and put it on to something else. Bring your thoughts to positive places whenever you start feeling emotional. It’s probably annoying to hear that, but it is what I have had to do. It also never hurts to talk to someone. I have had 3 different therapists in my adult life and am not someone who has had a traumatic childhood, we all have experiences that are scarring. I also can’t recommend personal development books enough. It isn’t a bunch of balogna as people might say. The more you learn about how your mind works, the easier it is to control it.
