LinkedIn profile is like an online resume where you can list out your credentials, add a little about who you are and what you do, in hope that someone is intrigued enough to network with or hire you.

Here are some tips to help optimize your LinkedIn profile and get an all-star rating;
1. A powerful title: The title is like the cover of a book. It serves the purpose of attracting potential employers. Keep your headline clear and well defined by what you can do for an employer with your skills and expertise.
2. Picture: As it is said- “A picture is worth a thousand words”. Have a professional photo that shows your face and smiling is important.
3. Summary (about you): This is one of the most important parts of your LinkedIn profile. Starting with a quote or mentioning a statement about an amazing and unique ability is an approach that attracts. Mention what people say about you (helps build your brand image). Add mediocre achievements and awards received to build your summary. Crucially, add what you are truly passionate about that brings in the human angle and share how you are different.
4. Presentations and Videos: Unlike a resume, a LinkedIn profile allows you to showcase your talent by sharing your interesting presentations and videos (if any) or certificates. Or if you were interviewed by the media. Select them
5. Tenure: Focus on achievements and responsibilities. And present your achievements strongly with measurable results.
6. Recommendations: List your core skills and differentiate those you want prospective employers to notice. Then request various people for recommendations who will be in a position to recommend you during your skills. Former owners, associates, associates, vendors, customers and so on. This contributes to building your brand image overall.
