This most important in maintaining positivity is to be a positive person from the core.
Starting the day on a positive note is very important as it can impact the way you are going to spend rest of the day. So the moment you wake feeling grateful for the things you are blessed with in life. It will trigger your mind to think positively for rest of the day.
Focus on the good part— Everything and every situation has its good and bad. Similarly everybody has problems as well as blessings. So try to find the good part. You can’t imagine how much it can help in keeping you calm and composed even in negativity and you will be able to sail through the situation smoothly.
Avoid negative people, situations and you should even avoid using negative words in your vocabulary. It can be of great help, as our brain creates a mental image of what we say and the words we use in conversation. And it impacts our thinking pattern and behaviour at a great extent. So try to use words which denotes positivity and growth to condition your mind accordingly.
Practice positive self talk: We pay attention to how we should talk to others but we should also be attentive towards what is our self image and how we think and talk about ourselves in our mind.

There are bad days and sometimes, I do loose my grip on my emotions. I do know that I can either let myself get even deeper on that or turn that around. So, I set small and achievable goals that lead me to a bigger one but I leave room to change. One small goal of mine is to finish university, no matter what, and do my masters. In the meant time I can change my mind on the second goal but the first one is set on stone.
When I feel myself getting into a spiraling mental breakdown, I take a break. I open my window, appreciate the fresh air and wait. If it’s too cold, I lay on the ground and wait. Don’t loose your grip on your emotions and don’t let your mind be even more of an enemy. It’s easier said then done, no doubt but wait. Take a break and don’t forget about your bigger picture.
Allow yourself to understand that there’s bad days and that’s not a bad thing. A problem is not exactly something bad, it’s just something you need to get around and sometimes that takes time.
