The police recently showed up at my place, my neighbor had called them to tell them perceived smoke (marijuana) from my flat which was a big lie. I was so so surprised but I was able to stay on top of the situation, that was after my flat was thoroughly checked.

My friend randomly showed up at my place at 3am barefoot and crying. She told me she and her boyfriend got into a fight and he assaulted her and since I lived only a couple blocks away she came straight to my place. Then about 30 minutes later I got another knock on the door and it was a police officer. He said that a neighbor had witnessed the fight because it happened at their backyard and he called 911. When they got to my friend’s apartment they found it destroyed and her boyfriend was half passed out drunk on the floor. They managed to get him awake enough to tell them where he thought my friend went and he said probably my place. After we talked to the officer he suggested my friend should go with him to the courthouse to file an emergency restraining order. So he drove us there and stayed with us the whole time to walk her through the process and then drove us back after the order was granted. He was genuinely very kind and compassionate towards her and did everything he could to make sure she was okay. And honestly I was quite surprised because up until that point all of my experiences with cops had only been neutral to bad and it still remains my only positive experience with the police.
I’ve had both the police show up at my door unexpectedly. The police showed up because someone called about my dog being aggressive. Now my dog happens to be the chillest relaxed dog in the world with zero aggression. When he sees new people he smiles and when he smiles he shows his teeth which many people mistake for showing aggression. The officer knocks on the door and I go to a nearby window to talk through. I do not open the door for strangers including police. The officer tells me he’s here because a citizen said my dog was being aggressive. I was surprised and asked if he hurt anyone. The officer said oh no not at all. I said ok then what’s the problem? He said well we just have to respond when we’re called. I said ok goodbye have a nice day.
