Are there situations where you felt a particular person didn’t deserve your sympathy? Is it really compulsory to show sympathy to others? Do I become a bad person if I feel I don’t want to show sympathy to someone?

I will say you owe no one your sympathy. Absolutely no one is entitled to your sympathy. If I decide to show no sympathy to a particular person or group of persons, I sure have my reasons. Do serial killers deserve my sympathy? No. Do bad and corrupt leaders deserve my sympathy? No. There are a lot of persons who do not deserve my sympathy and I wouldn’t give my sympathy to when the need arises to do otherwise.

In as much as you choose whoever you wish to show sympathy, it therefore important to know that if you choose to not show sympathy on a particular person due to whatever bad thing the person has done in the past, then are you really any different from the person? There are different kinds of bad; if you are in a position to show sympathy and you know the person could really use the sympathy, give them the sympathy. When you give people sympathy regardless of their deeds, you will see it doesn’t remove anything from you. Instead, it does make you a better person.
