Dopamine detox is simply abstaining from things that are pleasurable for a few days, in order to reset your ability to feel it. Dopamine detoxes are more nonsense. Don’t get caught up in this silly thing. It makes no sense based on everything we know about neurology. Dopamine is a natural substance required for your body to function. You cannot detox from it without dying.
I did a dopamine detox for about a month, the first week being a full detox, i.e. no Internet, no sweets, no daydreaming, no masturbating, no video games, then after that just no Internet except when absolutely necessary. It worked great for that month and I was more productive than ever. Encouraged by this success, I began to slowly re-introduce the Internet into my life, and sure enough, within a week or two things spiraled out of control and I was back to where I started. Maybe it’s possible to maintain that level of productivity for longer, but I’m pretty sure you’d slip up sooner or later and fall back into your old ways.
