I’d like to know if getting the vaccine will have me protected against those who haven’t had their covid vaccine yet?

While the vaccine is highly effective, it does not guarantee immunity. Vaccination while giving immunity is not a guarantee that you will not get the disease. If you are exposed to someone releasing large numbers of viruses then you still may get sick. Vaccination programmes work by getting high numbers of people to be vaccinated, this substantially reduces the risk of being exposed to people emitting high numbers of viruses and reduces to chances of them being able to make others sick. This way the number of sick people falls.
The vaccines do not stop you being infected with COVID-19, but they help your immune system to recognise the virus as a threat, and to trigger an immune response. This immune response vigorously fights the virus which stops it from overwhelming the host and minimises the viral load in your nasal passage and respiratory system.
