when a patient is in a coma, it means that they are unconscious and they can’t respond to pain or other forms of stimuli like sounds, light, they can’t move and they can’t speak.
A person who is in a coma is not able to sleep either, because even when you are asleep, your brain is active and working. When you are in a coma, your brain is not active. So it means that you probably can’t dream. Some people think that talking to a coma patient can help them wake up, the person in the coma probably can’t hear what is going on, but talking to them may help their friends and family help and it can certainly not do any harm to the person in a coma.
