In my opinion, alcohol does help alleviate anxiety- but just for the moment. It is momentary. When you drink alcohol and you get a little bit intoxicated, you may forget about your anxieties and worries all for that moment but immediately after the alcohol is all cleared off your body system, your anxieties are back. The truest way to take care of anxiety is to tackle it directly, not avoiding it. Alcohol only helps you avoid it.
Alcohol and anxiety often go hand-in-hand, we live in an alcohol-addicted society. Alcohol is used as a social lubricant and has become such a crutch for many people to feel comfortable socially such that they feel lost without it. The paradox is that, while alcohol serves as a social lubricant and works in the moment to stave off anxiety, the aftermath consumption of alcohol consumption, especially for hypersensitive people, is an anxiety hangover that often lasts several days. Now, ask yourself this question: is that worth sacrificing your mental health and stability for?
