I consider my college degree like a ticket to ride on a train. However you have to get to the train station- the job market- and find the train your ticket will work for – the company that will hire you. Hiring is not guaranteed even for the ivy league graduates. The traditional thinking is that by obtaining a college degree you’re proving to future employers that you have achieved a baseline understanding of the subject matter and that you have developed a certain set of useful skills during your academic career.
Absolutely no class of degree, in and of itself, guarantees one of a job placement. There, however, are degrees that lead more readily to employment opportunities, but none guarantee anything. Finding a job is a very competitive activity and a degree which attests to little more than you were able to pass the required number of courses is but one part of the process, not all. You require skills, experience that will help you land your dream job.
