The churches are treated as nonprofits, and as such can avoid paying taxes. If churches that are non-profit were required to pay taxes then it would essentially be a tax on religion. If your church makes a profit then it shouldn’t be a non-profit, but most churches don’t. What would happen if churches or other religious institutions were taxed? The ones that couldn’t pay for them would be shut down. This is essentially saying that religions which can’t pay certain fees can’t have public places of worship unless they make enough money.
Churches should be exempted from paying tax because they are non-profit organizations. The money they collect goes to paying for staff-preacher, secretary, cleaners, maintenance of the church building, properties, improvements to the building and property, and the various ministries that they participate in. There is no owner and are no stockholders making profit off of the money they collect and services they provide.
