Well familiar with the egg-freezing procedure- but are men also capable of freezing their sperm for future use?

Yes, men are also able to freeze their sperm for a particular period of time till it is needed. This is really a great option for those considering vasectomy. If there is any part of you that suspects you might want a child in future and you are set on having a vasectomy, I would recommend freezing sperm. For several reasons. The first of which, assuming you have a normal sample, then it will be easy to freeze many straws for future IUI/IVF use. In fact, if you have not had a sperm analysis previously I would recommend having one done just to see where you stand because it will effect your outlook with the various options. Additionally, frozen sperm can actually be held indefinitely at this stage without much change to viability.
Sperm freezing is the procedure done to preserve sperm cells for future use, as life is so unpredictable. There is no limit to the length of time that sperm can be stored in a frozen state. However, the standard storage period for sperm is 10 years. This term can be exceeded only in certain circumstances. The amount of time in storage does not influence the success rate.
