A recent study involving FTIs has shown efficacy in treating symptoms of Progeria, using metrics such as weight gain, decreases in arterial pulse wave velocity, increases in skeletal rigidity, and sensorineural hearing. On the cell–based level, rapamycin, a macrolide antibiotic that has been implicated in slowing cellular and organismal aging, has been shown to reverse the pathologic phenotypes of Progeria.
