As far as I know, there are no specific treatments that cure progeria. But of course, researches are in motion. Kids with progeria are more likely to get dehydrated, so they need to drink plenty of water, especially when they’re sick or it’s hot. Small meals more often can help them eat enough, too.
Currently, there are no known effective treatments for Progeria, with most patients succumbing to the disease in their teens. There have been several attempts to reverse the Progeria symptoms. A recent study involving FTIs has shown efficacy in treating symptoms of Progeria, using metrics such as weight gain, decreases in arterial pulse wave velocity, increases in skeletal rigidity, and sensorineural hearing. On the cell–based level, rapamycin, a macrolide antibiotic that has been implicated in slowing cellular and organismal aging, has been shown to reverse the pathologic phenotypes of Progeria.
