My mom told me to never discuss money with anyone for any reason, that advice has always stayed in my mind as I have observed that when money enters into the picture, peoples perception of you change(myself included). I rarely like the change. My experience in the work world is never discuss salary. A person’s salary is private and I’d avoid anyone who blatantly asked me such a question simply because that person obviously has boundary issues.
No! A very big no! If you don’t already know their salary, you have no business knowing and you shouldn’t ask them. However, if you consider them your friend and the feeling is mutual, you can ask if y’all are having a conversation in that angle. Or you need the info for something important. Else, you should not ask them what their salary is, many people find it rude. Infact, it is rude.
