Depends on University. Some accept while others don’t. Check the university’s website to know if they accept Duolingo. Duolingo will not replace TOEFL or IELTS but at the moment, given the pandemic, some universities are now considering Duolingo as an alternative since it can be done online. Currently, High commissions and embassies are not considering it for your visa. This could change in the future but right now it’s just another alternative for universities.
Some schools started accepting Duolingo English Test during the pandemic, but they might stop accepting it in few years to come depending on how quickly things return back to normal. Many schools have temporarily removed the IELTS, GRE and TOEFL requirements. To be certain, check the admission website of schools you are applying to. Duolingo is not regarded highly because it can be taken at home. IELTS is the recommended language test for UK universities. TOEFL is also accepted but if your focus is on UK universities, take the IELTS.
