Is it possible for a doctor to choose not to treat a patient because he/she have had some awkward encounter with the patient.

I think if the patient is in threat of death or grave bodily harm, our duty is to act to help/save them. If something has the time to be referred, then I think providers have the right to refuse provided they refer to someone who is willing to help the patient achieve their care. That way the physician is not directly providing the service they are against, but they are not dictating another’s health due to their personal beef.
I am a psychologist but not a physician. I refuse to treat people all the time. However, by treatment I really mean assessment as this is what I do, along with some counseling in select cases. I refuse to treat adolescent patients that do not agree to therapy. It’s a waste of everyone’s time.
