Breast implant can be done many months or even years after mastectomy. During reconstruction, a plastic surgeon creates a breast shape using an artificial implant.
It’s also important to know that while breast reconstruction rebuilds the shape of the breast, it doesn’t restore sensation to the breast or the nipple. Over time, the skin over the reconstructed breast can become more sensitive to touch, but it won’t be exactly the same as it was before surgery.

Not all women can do breast implant after they’ve undergone mastectomy. Most women are able to have breast reconstruction. But it may not be a good choice if you are obese, smoke, or have serious health problems, such as heart disease or diabetes. These conditions increase your risk of serious problems after surgery. Knowing all these things is the work of your surgeon, they will walk you through the process.
