I did build and launch an e-commerce business with zero capital and it was immediately profitable. The e-commerce is running automatically in the background, making coffee and gas money for me while I work on a new and more ambitious business plan. I think the trick is to make it happen immediately and think along the way. I came up with the idea and immediately spent the next two days researching and building a prototype to test my idea. A week later, my website was live.
It really depends on what kind of business you plan on running. I just started my own plumbing company and it can be very expensive the first few months. Depending on the business it may require you to invest in a truck, material, equipment, business upkeep, etc. Also, will your line of business be billing clients or collecting money on the spot? Small businesses have much higher overhead then bigger businesses with cash flow. My first month of starting my company was rough when customers wouldn’t pay.
