So, my roommate often have this weird profuse sweating after smoking cannabis and I tend to wonder why. I mean, I myself have had to smoke that on one or two occasions and I don’t remember having that experience. What could be the cause of the excessive sweating?

I do not have experience with cannabis, only with cigarettes. Tobacco contains nicotine. Intake of nicotine causes over secretion of acetylcholine which is responsible for increased heart rate, high blood pressure and over stimulation of sweat glands which makes people sweat more than normal. When you’ve smoked too many cigarettes or overload your body with nicotine you’re in essence poisoning yourself with nicotine. So that feeling your getting is the beginning stages of nicotine poisoning. It’s nothing serious but it does mean you should cut back on how much you’re smoking, it means you’re overloading your body with nicotine and if you do over do it it could cause a stroke.
It is well known that smoking can impact your body in many ways, but evidence shows it can also cause excessive sweating. Nicotine in cigarettes causes the release of acetylcholine, which stimulates sweat glands. If you’ve ever noticed yourself sweating a lot while smoking, you aren’t imagining it – it really can cause more sweating than normal.
