Freelancers have different legal rights and duties than the average employee. It is important for a freelancer to know what is legally required for the job, for tax purposes, the government and for his or her own personal protection. Depending on the country, it is important for some written documents to be signed and completed by a freelancer when he or she has started working for himself or herself. This could be a contractual agreement with a company as a freelancing agent, some paperwork for independent contracting and similar circumstances. If the person is working for odd jobs online, he or she may be able to forgo this step until he or she has started working as a freelance agent to a company. However, some countries may require governmental documents to be filed with the appropriate authorities.
There are really no stringent rules and regulations, except that some countries would require you to register as a business owner before you can legally be a freelancer. So, apart from that, just don’t breach the policy of any company you work for because if found doing so no legal point or work force in the world can save you. As a matter of fact that signature you did on your contract while joining the company is hell powerful and will be taken against you if produced in the court. So beware
