Apple seeds do contain a cyanide type poison, but the quantity is so small that a large amount would need to be consumed to be harmful. Also apple seeds are covered with harmless and insoluble cellulose, so any accidentally swallowed will simply simply pass through, they would need to be chewed to release the potentially harmful substance. The kernels of apricot, cherry, peach and plum stones aremore likely to be harmful. but then again only if eaten in quantity.

Apple seeds contains small amounts of a substance called Amygdalin which, upon coming in contact with the digestive juices, produces cyanide which in turn is, of course, a poison. However, the danger is not in swallowing the seeds, since they are contained in a sort of protective layer which allows them to pass through the digestive tract intact. The danger is in chewing the seeds as it can cause reaction between the subtance and the stomach lining. The good news is it would take around 200 apple seeds to cause poisoning.
